Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that the call emphasized the deep-rooted relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom, as well as the commitment of both countries’ leaderships to enhance bilateral cooperation across all areas of mutual interest, particularly trade and investment, to achieve the interests of both countries and their peoples’ aspirations.
The call also touched on regional developments. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, the exchange of detainees and hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
President El-Sisi and the British prime minister affirmed the importance of the prompt initiation of the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing the Palestinians from their land, as this would contribute to restoring regional stability. In this regard, President El-Sisi reiterated that the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
The call also addressed the situation in Syria, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia, and ways to restore stability in these countries and safeguard their sovereignty and independence, as well as Egypt’s efforts in this regard.
The British prime minister expressed appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in the region and reiterated his country’s commitment to continuing consultation and coordination with Egypt on all regional issues of mutual interest.
